I’m totally not the “save the world” type. I don’t want to save the rain forest or stop world hunger. Nor do I feel the need to save the homeless. There isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t see some jerk off standing around with a sign begging for money.
I live in an area where there really aren’t many homeless people. Most of the “homeless” in my area in fact aren’t really homeless. They usually stand in a popular intersection or at a highway off ramp scamming all of the passer-bys, while their Huffy is parked out of sight. They usually are holding the obligatory “poor me!” cardboard sign. You know the one. “Will work for food, shelter or money.”
Hey dirtbag! I work for food, shelter and money every damn day. You don’t see me holding a sign begging for hand-outs.
I’m sorry. I have absolutely no sympathy for a begger, let alone a fake. I am a firm believer that you need to pull yourself up by your boot straps. Improve your situation by your own efforts. Standing there with a cup isn’t effort, it’s being a lazy piece of shit.

These vagrants are usually wearing some sort of “homemade” dirty cut off t-shirt with new boots and socks. Oh! So you must be spending all of your earnings on some new threads eh? Screw food! New kicks are waaaaay more important. I guess being homeless you do have a lot of walking to do. Why do all that walking in uncomfortable shoes? I don’t know about you, but I would SO rather have a nice pair of shoes than an full stomach.
For some reason people still find the need to hand them their hard earned money. I find the need to hit them with my truck door as I bomb around the corner doing eighty. The only way I would ever give them any money would be if my sock full of quarters ripped open while beating them repeatedly in the face. At least I would get some satisfaction. That would be my contribution to “saving the homeless”.

It’s my personal belief that it would be much easier to walk into to McDonald’s across the intersection and get a job than it would be to stand on that damn corner everyday.
Isn’t there a saying to the effect that “The Lord helps them who help themselves”? I think this applies to most people also. We are willing to help, if that help is going to get you somewhere. If I give you a dollar today and your still there tomorrow, what good have I done? Or actually, what good have you done?
So help yourself homeless guy. Be productive and reap the rewards.
(and yes, I’m aware that the homeless are not going to actually see this post. That is why I have decided to take the message to the “home” of the homeless and have patented the billboard mounted to the underside of overpasses.)

Alot of times when I am at work, the thought of being homeless and hungry is tempting.

Inspiring!
I’m having t-shirts made up that say “Currently Working for Food”.
We have lots of homeless people not far from where I live. Most work the same corners for years and occasionally get in real-life ‘bum fights’ over lucrative territories.
Some even have pets. Mostly dogs, but I’ve seen a ferret, caged bird, and a bird in a homeless dude’s pocket once.
